If you are at a loss for what to buy the swimmer in your life check out or suggestions, guaranteed to bring a smile to the face of any water baby.
Top of our wish list has to be a Swimovate Pool mate (£70), a clever little gadget which counts your laps and monitors speed and performance while swimming.
It comes in pink, black and grey and will be invaluable to the serious swimmer or triathletes and recreational swimmers who simply want to know how many laps they have swum without having to keep count.
If your budget will stretch a little further then the Finis Swimsense ($199.99) is a new gadget we would love to find under the tree on Christmas morning. This training tool for fitness fanatics straps on the wrist and monitors your stroke count, rate, distance-per-stroke and other vital statistics to improve performance. All these stats can then be logged into a computer for in-depth analysis to help you improve stroke efficiency as well as monitor calorie rates.
A waterproof MP3 player is a great gift for anyone who spends hours ploughing up and down the pool. Speedo’s Aquabeat is a funky, colourful little gadget. It comes in a special edition 2GB Lzr Racer version which will hold about 1000 songs and retails for about £89. There’s also a 1GB version for around £65 which is available in black, pink and a cool lime colour.
Finis’ 1Gb SwiMP3 v.2 is a little more expensive at around £99 than Speedo’s Aquabeat but the headphones are a lot less fiddly to deal with – they simply hang down from your goggle strap rather than having to be inserted in and around your ears.
A stylish swim towel would also be a welcome addition to our Christmas stocking and we hope that Santa has will be bringing us one of these lovely Speedo Bondi towels this year. They come in a choice of black, green, pale blue, pink and a festive red for £16 and have to be one of the most stylish ways of drying off after a swim.
We are also hoping for a Heritage Messenger bag to carry all our new kit in. These retro swimbags from Speedo are just the job and look just as cool out of the pool as they do on the way for a swim.
They come in a choice of black, navy, red and pink and white and cost around £20. A sure way to bring a smile to the face of any trendy, style conscious swimmer.
A pair of performance swimming goggles has to be on most serious swimmers wish list this Christmas. We particularly like Zoggs’ Predator Flex Mirrors (around £22.99). A pair of Speedo Speedsocket Mirrors (around £20) should also get you into the good books well into the new year.
But if the swimmer in your life has been very, very good this year then perhaps they deserve something a little special.
Speedo do a great range of performance wetsuits for triathletes and open water swimmers which should keep them warm while they are out working off the effects of all that Christmas excess.
We particularly like the Thin Swim event wetsuit which comes in Men’s and Women’s sizes and retails at around £247.
