Just a day to go until Team Goggleblog takes part in this year’s final Swim Britain event and the excitement is building. Last year it was an excellent event with Mark Foster overseeing the swim as the British Gas Ambassador on the day. This year it’s the turn of his BBC co-host and former Olympic double Gold medal winning Olympian Rebecca Adlington.
We’ll be poolside at London Fields Lido with Becky from 2.45pm on Sunday where hopefully we’ll get to chat about all things swimming related as well as her recent marriage to Harry Needs. Once again, Team Goggleblog – made up of ageing swimming parents, Dads and Mum – will then be taking on their children (ages 9 to 12) who are all regular swimmers at Barnet Copthall Swimming Club where they swim up to 8 times every week!
Last year we well and truly beaten by the kids. This year I’m expecting it to be a complete humiliation despite some of them having suffered coughs and colds during the week as they return back to school. Whatever the result, it will hopefully be a great family day out. The weather forecast is good, the venue is lovely and the atmosphere will be buzzing.
We wish all the swimmers good luck in what’s a lovely fun event and a great advert for a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and all abilities.
